during his speech at the WWW7, tim berners lee said that he expects XML to replace HTML. a year ago, XML was introcuded as an alternative to HTML, but it was clearly said that it is not supposed to be a replacement. due to the immense amount of HTML documents, it is very likely that HTML-browsers will be around for a long time.
in addition, i expect XML-browser to be able to display HTML-document. all they need is a DTD that describes HTML elements and attributes.
