Notes:
one of the first implementation that is based on XML is MathML, a markup language to describe mathematical expressions. Amaya, the experimental browser of the W3C, already supports MathML.
Amaya is not only a browser, it is also an editor at the same time. its handling is not straight forward, but it is an interesting (and free) alternative to the "other two browsers".
